我第一次看到陈尚昌作品就留下强烈印象，支离破碎的构图，衬托著各种充满欲望的肢体动作，像一出歧义多变的独幕剧，让人产生浮想联翩的解读。

其强烈的视觉衝击力主要是：古怪色彩的搭配、流淌的物质，不成型的人物表情、暧昧不清的事件关係、支离破碎的时空并置，让观者产生欲言又止的?祥之感，彷彿预测着我们这个现实正在在或将要发生的某些事情。

这其中还夹杂着莫名的仪式感，充满了期待的情绪与悲悯之心的复杂感情，让人感觉得到作者的躁动的灵魂与强烈的欲望冲动。

这些画面让人感受到警示与反思，质疑社会环境与人性之间的人道关怀与人文背景，如何让人性在人类精神共同体中产生真正的终极意义，这也许是作者用心良苦的叙述方式与个人情怀独特的精神表达。

Desire Body 

I was left with vivid impressions of Chen Shangchang’s works when I saw them for the first time. His scattered composition strung together various body movements that visualized desire. His works are like ambiguous and variable one-act plays that grip people’s imaginations. 

His strong visual impacts are primarily manifested in strange color interactions, floating materials, incomplete expressions of the characters, ambiguous relationships between the events and scattered temporal and spatial arrangements, offering his viewer a sense of ineffable inauspiciousness, as if they are predictions for the events that would taken place in our own realities. 

In which, one also finds unknown sense of rituals, expectations and complex emotions of sadness, by which the viewer would perceive the artist’s restless soul and insatiable desires.  

These images provide a sense of warning and provoke reflections, and are skeptical of the social environment and the humanistic concerns and background based on certain sets of ethical values. Perhaps the ways in which the spiritual collective of humanity engenders ultimate meanings are what the artist’s deliberate narrative and personal aspirations wish to achieve.
